The Gujarati word “hoonf” (rhymes with “oomph”) means the deep feeling of love, comfort, safety, and joy you first feel in your mother’s arms. This gorgeous term encapsulates our childcare philosophy, and is the name of our flagship on-site care program.
More than anything, we want children to feel safe and loved in their relationship to parents and other caregivers, as this is the foundation for all healthy childhood development. Our on-site care model is built around helping you maintain and nourish your close bond with your child within our loving communal environment.
Parents are warmly welcome to interact with children throughout the day, whether for breastfeeding, eating, naptime, or other play. If children are distressed or feeling anxious about potential separation, parents are welcome to stay or work inside the childcare space for as long as needed.
Our teachers follow cues from both parents and children around separation anxiety and how best to handle it, ensuring that the transition to being with other caregivers is smooth and joyful for all. The hoonf program is ideal for parents with children who are still new to being in care.
We use an app to keep you updated on all care and play activities throughout the day: from feeding, diaper/potty, to what the kids are working on and learning. Get pictures and notifications right away, whether you’re the parent working on-site or following along from somewhere else.
The hoonf curriculum is designed by experienced infant and toddler teachers for children 8 weeks and older. It draws on Montessori, Reggio Emilia, forest school, and other nature-based, play-based ways of learning.
We use a screen-free approach that utilizes our beautiful outdoor spaces: children have access to a playground, mud kitchen, sandbox, water table, school garden, and six acres of land to safely explore. Naps, storytime, and indoor play happen in our beautiful indoor classroom.
Each week, children get to dive deep into a theme or topic ranging from whimsical to deeply meaningful. Some of our weekly topics so far have been Watermelon Week, Juneteenth, Pride, Fire Safety, & Teddy Bear’s Picnic. All the learning activities, storybooks, music, art exploration, and sensory experiences are designed around each week’s theme, keeping the experience fresh and fun!
Parenting demands flexibility and adaptability!
Our program is designed to work with YOUR schedule. Reserve childcare for anywhere from 2 hours a day to full-time depending on your needs. Both parents or guardians can share a single membership and bring the child in for on-site care. Scheduled care is billed monthly and you can change or cancel each month with no yearly commitment. (And there’s drop-in if you need even more flexibility than that).
And, you can arrive as late or leave as early as needed within your booked time. Never stress about rushing to get shoes on and lunch packed to make it to drop-off on time!
Need extra hours? Need care immediately? School is closed, but you still need to work? Nanny’s out sick for the day?
We offer our members daily drop-in care for children of all ages! Book childcare yourself in mere seconds using our app.
All parents, especially stay-at-home parents, need some uninterrupted quiet time to give to the rest of life beyond childcare.
Drop-in care is available in 2-hour slots from 9am – 5pm each day. Becoming a member means knowing you always have a place where you can go to catch up on work or just have a moment to think and breathe.
Members can book both childcare for only $14/hr, billed monthly – far less than hiring a nanny or babysitter! Drop-in childcare is available for just $17/hr, with a 2-hr minimum booking. Siblings are an additional $10/hr.
*Reduced rates are available for parents in need. We especially want to support parents seeking care in order to search for work. Please contact us at hello@landofthegood.com to learn more about this option.
The hoonf program follows the highest standards of safety and is committed to providing quality care. Our teacher-student ratio is just 1:3 for children under 2, and 1:6 for older children. These low ratios allow teachers to give personalized and spacious attention to each child, ensuring their needs and interests are joyfully met.
